'Take out' is eaten in
TV rooms where recliners
assume placid poses
linked to an LED anchor
that 'show and tells' life.
Eating someone else's
thoughts, feelings, laughs and food
I nod as the skin
of an ailing Mona Lisa
is diagnosed with cancer.
Terminal, I'm sure
it said, and nodding
lower, I hear a voice
say, "For Christ's sake
let her die in peace."
To late for chemo,
the anchor condemns
us both until later
when I wake up
in time to go to sleep.
