A Permanent Embrace

Neville

A Permanent Embrace

Somewhere, in some deep forest glade

where dappled pools of light did shade

He found her waiting patiently, but oh’

so very naked …………………………………..

And though quite shocked, to find her

thus ..

He knelt to kiss where those blue veins

did form

a perfect cross, in the hollow of her

ankle …………………………………………………

Yes … twas there with gold leaves falling

all around ..

Like snow in sudden winter forming

each a pillow, sheet, a quilt and shroud

That’s precisely

where they lay till morning, undiscovered

still and proud …………………………………….

Until the thaw of spring that is .. and they

were then each

Subsequently found, beneath a swollen

hedgerow somewhere

Locked in their permanent embrace ……..

Reads as a tale of forbidden love. A fairy tale of old which still haunts the hedgerow and gives pleasure to all with blossoms and perpetuates the eternity of love with berries of continuence.

            Neville,

What a wonderful romantic read! As I read your poem, I felt a certain calmness and warmth within…so serene…so peaceful amid the snow ‘pillow, sheet, a quilt and shroud’.
It felt like a dream that one wishes not to end.

            Thank you for sharing…dear friend.

Did ya notice (great - you didn't) a piece of subliminal advertising somewhere............?
