It's Not My Problem.

Goldfinch60

Who are you?

Who am I?

We are each individuals

So unique within ourselves.

Many people accept these differences,

Some people do not.

The way I look at my life

Is that this is me,

It is what I am,

And if people do not like

Like what they see

It is their problem,

Not mine.

as long as I'm not hurting someone on purpose
        or where necessary
have belatedly, apologised for doing-so unknowingly
        and more importantly, ceased those harmful actions;
all the rest: can go F themselves...
for no one, removed their free will option
        to completely ignore my existence
in the abundant and varied paths available
for them to traverse their life, excluding me
because I for one can categorically guarantee
        I ain't wasting a second on their petty foolery;
its just that, sadly - for far too many
waging wars is their pathetic choice
        for an obsessively distracting
        self-deluding: way of life...
so yeah, I completely agree Andy
(sorry, that's two foul language yellow cards
in quick - recent succession, I'll try to proactively avoid it
        in the near future
its just that your writing, has a way
        of directly impacting
the root cause, at the nuclease
        of your subject matter)
        thank you, dear Poet
I must confess, I found reading and commenting
on your write today, thoroughly therapeutic
enough to make me feel guilty, for not being able
        to reimburse your poetic generosity
        someday, I can - hopefully
pen something, to return the favour..

Thank you Mek for your most thoughtful words, I appreciate them all.

I was brought up under the influence of parents who had to keep up appearances and the effect on me was long lasting and had very negative affect upon my 'self image'.

It took many years for most of this to filter away but still a lot remains. I envy your freedom of mind to be so confident.

Thank you d a. This was brought on a number of years ago when I was told "If you do not have this operation you will die". I realised that I had been given a second chance at life so nothing can harm me now and life is so meaningful.

So liberating when we finally figure this out isn't it Andy......

            • Goldfinch60

It surely is Lorna, thank you.

Rightly said Andy. You are what you are nobody can change that. But to expose it and get expect acceptance for it need courage . A good read

                Andy,

I’m appreciative of your wonderful poem. You’re so right about how we should feel about ourselves; especially when we’ve been gifted with another chance to continue to live our life. Let’s be thankful and live the rest of our days the way they’re intended for us to do so.

                Thank you for sharing.

                Laura🌻
