Dumbness.
Snow covers lips when slivers
of dumbness fixed
on stunted responses admits
no warmth so love
topples while couples mumble
in cold duo-disdain
a plain truth being forgotten
that bliss shrivels left
in freezers iced-up with frost.
Spite harms peace
- but silence no heart can reach.

Human need and 'Love' - so freely bandied about here - weaponised, Fay.
this whole page screams TRUTH oh' but perfect and loudly .................... x
I wish I could send this to someone but, they wouldn't respond anyway...
This is so eloquently worded for something so painful. I enjoyed the lighthearted title despite the heartbreaking context, it's certainly a nice way of putting it!
indeed: Eloquent
is what manifests, as the forefront
of my instinctive connection
with this poignantly relatable poem
So well said. I've known people who "fight" this way. It IS a great way to disable an opponent though - they have nothing to push against! But never a good weapon for love!
'dumbness fixed, on stunted
responses
admits, no warmth so love
topples
while couples mumble in cold
duo-disdain
a plain truth, being forgotten
that, bliss: shrivels...'
hauntingly worded truth, dear Fay
thank you!
The power of words unsaid. More especially when certain words need to be said.
Often a tactic in an unmatched wit of put you downs.
Love is about sharing after all and that includes sharing obstacles to be cleared for a road ahead not creating silent roadside bombs one fears could explode at any moment.
Good write Fay.
That silence can be devastating Fay, there is so much truth in your words.
Andy
