No Shave, Thanks - Just a Haircut!

Notice of absence from Doggerel Dave
Not absent - still here!
Keep Calm and Carry On Poeming. šŸ˜‚

Its lockdown time right now in Sydney town.

It’s bloody slow and dull; I’m in a rut.

There’s not much of anything going down.

To remain dapper I need a haircut.

Its lockdown time right now in Sydney town.

My Barber won’t reopen that’s for sure;

Like our hero I wander up and down:

There’s just one I find open on my tour,

A notorious joint of some ‘renown’…….

  • Comment from author about the poem: As promised, a second tangle with Banjo Paterson (1864-1941) - this time his verse ā€œThe Man From Ironbarkā€. After a search for The Man whom Iā€™d lost contact with for a number of years, I discovered his story had been put to music by several aspiring musos. One such rendition can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNqaJbp2l-g&ab_channel=SlimDustyMusic

Baldies my local just opened and he is shearing to go ...

      • Doggerel Dave

That's innovative, Nev - he's cornered the market..... Purveyors of warm headwear should see an increase in trade...all good .. stimulates the economy ...increase in GDP....

I dunno where I am. Me usual barbers had a sign outside saying 'Open'. It was all locked up. The lights were on but no-one was home! lol.
That's poor practice, as they compete with another barber only next door. They will all pop in there instead, as I did.

Satisfaction ( as in I get no..)? But you did Orchi. Amounts to correctly interpreting what is available in any given environment and acting on it... Oh well done Sir.

Time for ponytails for all your guys........ a good look for going back in time to the old days of plagues and infestations! Might as well make a game out of this Covid time.

          • Doggerel Dave

Yep - first I think I'll have to go for a (oh no!) man bun and then graduate to a ponytail. Alternatively I might invest in a set of sheep shearer's tools... got to resolve it somehow as at the rate we are going, lockdown will last for years.......

I truly believe you are right! This is going on for the rest of our lives! And so we are free to be whoever we really are since society won't exist any more! And watch out for shaving your head - your soul will be bare to any phrenologist that comes along....

              • Doggerel Dave

No, not my soul - it went a long time ago - I'm running on empty...

Digginā€™ this one Dave. Rhythm & rhyme is a great way to go. I bet you can write a gut busting limerick.

I do cut my own hair. Last time around I put a notch in my noggin when the attachment flipped off. Praise the powers that be for flat caps!

Thanks J. Rhyme rhythm and uniform line lengths is really a word puzzle that (I hope!) helps keep my brain active.......

I'm going to purchase my noggin mower with some care...

I started shearing my own hair long before the Covid thing so it didn't bother me. It doesn't look as good as a professional but then I don't have that much hair to make a mistake on. Loved the rhyme and rhythm
