Weep No More

Jayasree

Why do you weep girl

why did they clip your wings

imprison your spirit

Why do you weep woman

why did they torture you

tear your tender body apart

like petals from a flower;

Is being born a girl

the only sin you committed!

Weep no more my child

Weep no more woman

for no fault of yours.

Raise your voice

from your

bruised and tattered mind

shout out loud for all to hear!

Emboldened and empowered

rise up like a phoenix bird

from the ashes of suppression..

  • Comment from author about the poem: Some lines I wrote a few years back while reading about the atrocities committed against women. It is heart-rending , what's happening to the children, boys and girls alike and the women.

So true Jayasree but that strength is within so that ladies will be able to rise from that oppression and bring wonder to the world.

          Empowering!
what a great message and poetry
          its most suitable platform,
for how many love poems have been written in antiquity and today, ignoring the plight of our beloved ladies..
thanks for choosing to share and inform
