SUNFLOWER

Thekkinkkattil

In the morning I take a stroll

To wipe the slumber from my eyes

Stretch my legs and clear my bowls

See a golden flower in my stride

Waiting for the sun to rise

Blossoms with the heavenly light

Track the sun as it glides

“Sunflower” it’s fondly called

Smitten with the golden rays

 Bask itself with divine light

Love and devotion kept apart

Fills the floret one by one

With golden oil

Till the heads are done

The plant follows the mighty sun

To fill its bounty and raise its sons

Humbled by all this sight

To home I return with a vision

To start my day with a mission
