Laudable Lordship

Tune: Melita

('Eternal Father, strong to save')

Psalm 2 v.1-6 and v.12

********

Why do the heathen rage and rave?

O LORD, us from enemies save

Why do the people imagine

A vain thing? It worthless therein

The kings of the earth themselves set

To plot against the LORD e'en yet

And rulers they do take counsel

To cast the LORD far from them all

They speak against His anointed

One, Christ, and then these words they said

Let us break their bonds asunder

So folk shall at our power wonder

He that sits in the heavens shall

Laugh at them, the LORD, He knows well

Their plans, they shall be derided

Whate'er evil they decided

Then shall His in wrath to them speak

For they be haughty, proud, not meek

He shall distress them for He be

Deeply displeased, does their works see

Yet says He has set His King on

His holy hill, Zion, His Son

Come, pay Him homage, King of Kings

His name through eternity rings
