Saxon Crow

People Always Prefer Rainbows

People always prefer rainbows to rainclouds
Happy smiling faces to deeply furrowed frowns
They'd rather hear of butterflies fluttering all the day
Than hear about a plague of locusts
Stripping crops away
The joy of nature in full bloom brings peace upon the soul
But give them the ravages of each season and no one wants to know
Speak of things good and bright
And you'll get a huge response
But when someone decides to moan and cry
You may as well be on your own
But each is as valid and real as the other
There is beauty in light and dark
Love and fear are both the same
So why hold one and shun the other?
That is not natures way
There is balance in everything
But people always prefer rainbows
Rather than clouds full of heavy rain

So very true SC, the belief that the Pot o' Gold is waiting for them enhances their dreams.

Oh most definitely, I mean if it's raining there's a chance Orchi will start singing!.... Gimmie a rainbow and fairytails.

      • Saxon Crow

        Arghhhhh! Anything but that Dusk!

Great writing crow πŸ™‚it’s so much easier and nicer to smile at rainbows . But perhaps the clouds full of heavy rain ... perhaps they are beautiful we just can’t see it . Beauty within ....

        Like your poem .

I’m not sure that your always on your own if you Moan and cry ... although some people will simply stay away ,

I agree with you re the moan and cry line but I was too lazy to change it haha. Thanks for reading Rose

Of course I'm your thunder cloud with plenty of it, Sax.... Climate change is on its way - if not here already...

          Quality work though.

Good old climate change. Its the new covid!

            • Doggerel Dave

Nah - it has seniority over covid - think of covid as the young offspring.......

Speak for your self Mr Sax, actually we are crying out for rain here it hasn't been seen for months, I like your metaphor, of course looking on the bright side is always better for our minds, but sometimes we probably all like it when our neighbour falls head over heals into dog poo! LoL 🀣 nicy done Sir.

                • Saxon Crow

                  White dog poo?

Sorry to hear you've had no rain. We had a nice little thunderstorm the other day haha!

                  • Teddy.15

the wine won't be good if their isnt any rain. and the wild animals come out which means danger for all who drive. serious stuff but no matter it will eventually rain and the people will grumble as usual. x
