On Patriots Day

Accidental Poet

Not so long ago

Was born a new Patriots Day

As we all grieved together

The whole world changed that day

Now it’s been twenty years

And still, we mourn their loss

Gone is Osama Bin Laden

And still, we weigh the cost

Since man has walked this Earth

Tribes of men have waged senseless wars

Infected with greed and revenge

It’s the love of God we must restore

Heroes on the ground

And heroes in the air

In spite of all the danger

To save lives you dared

And it doesn’t get any easier

As the years go by

The evidence is clearly

There in our eyes

And so, in honor of their memory

We declare this day for them

A nation stands proud

A world of grieving friends

They’ll not be forgotten

The stars and stripes still wave

Their legacy survives

The proud, the strong, the brave

On this day for them

Standing tall, we’ve found our way

For all they gave us

On this new Patriots Day

No, but hopefully something positive will come out of such devastation. Thanks m&m.
