Tune: Old Yeavering
('Like a mighty river flowing')
Matthew 13 .52
***********
Every scribe who is instructed
By the Lord, and by His word led
He/She called scholar of old, writing
Of the Lord's ways in each thing
Instructed unto the kingdom
Of heaven, and God's will be done
They are like people with rich store
Of treasure for evermore
Treasure old and new they have sure
Rich in the things of God, not poor
having things new and old to show
In prosperity they grow
Delve deeper into treasure chest
Though it all counted as the best
Or the top layers of the new
Things recently added too

- Comment from author about the poem: a hymn-poem in 8.8.8.7. metre. The thought in the last verse is of a treasure-chest with newer treasures on the top, and older treasures further down, having been put into the chest first.

Orchi,
A ‘treasure’ of a write.
…and my aunt’s
comment to you,
‘God’s will be done’.
Laura🌻
Thanks Laura.
Good one Orchi
Thanks Gold. You got any, erm, gold in your treasure chest? Or any gold about in 1066? I'm getting obsessed by the Reunion. lol. Any sand at Hastings? We could go metal-detecting.
Well, love them treasures!
Thanks Dove.
