What Happened

jo

You pressed my mute button
And turned up the TV
And turned on the radio
But what I think is worthwhile
My news is valuable
My opinions are valid

You shut my doors
And blocked out the music
And ignored the talent
But my passion is central to me
My sounds are messages
My soul speaks in semitones

You ridiculed my spare time
And refused to play games
And ate or slept through your moments of leisure
But life is more than work and money
My strategy is to include others
My free time is my freedom

You overlooked my significance
And beauty was foreign
And tenderness was weakness
But I am a unique creation
My heart is pure and radiant
My strength comes from Love

You excused yourself from my business
And worked, minus complaints
And complained, minus efforts
But I’ve been given a range of investors
My labour is effective communication
My responsibility is for me

You cut down the trees in my yard
And words were sharp and quick
And branches fell and were trampled, crushed
But seeds have spread and others grow them
My task is not to be trunk
My vine is eternal

May your vine grow into the light of life that is there before you Jo.
