Tune: Salzburg
('At the Lamb's high feast we sing')
Based on various Gospel verses
**********
Jesu shared at Last Supper
Graces there He did confer
On disciples gathered round
Table, in fellowship found
Bread, symbol of His body
Bread of life He ever be
Wine, a symbol of His blood
Poured out as a cleansing flood
Two disciples on their way
To Emmaus went one day
Jesus drew near, they not know
Yet, that it was Jesus so
But when He with them broke bread
They ate with Him and were fed
Then they did Him recognise
He vanished before their eyes
Lord, in each Communion
We remember of your Son
That he did it institute
Origins in Him its root
He said each time we partake
To recall that or our sake
he died for our sins, then rose
Inner witness each then knows
Though these symbols of his death
When He took His final breath
'Twas as He did prophesy
That He would suffer and die
And that He would rise again
Be the Saviour of all men* (*mankind)
In His Eucharistic* feast (*Thanksgiving)
He invites all, great to least
