Tune: St Anne
('O God our help in ages past')
Psalm 41 v.1-4 and v.10-11
*********
Blessed they that consider the poor
The LORD will help them sure
Will save them in their own troubles
Will hear who to Him calls
The LORD will preserve them, will keep
Them alive, they His sheep
And on the earth they shall be blessed
in Him they find their rest
The LORD will not give them up to
Their enemies, but true
Will strengthen, restore when they be
Sick, in infirmity
He will raise them up from sick bed
By His Spirit they led
I said, LORD, be merciful to
Me, I sinned against you
Heal my soul, be merciful too
Raise me again anew
That I may repay enemies
They glad my pains to see
By this I know you favour me
Because my enemy
Does not triumph over me, they
O'ercome by you today
