Each Moment

Eugene

Tying  shoelaces,

Bending down

My knee hurt.

A little dart of pain

And suddenly

Past memories.

Those already gone.

A reminder,

I smiled within

How precious each moment

Every breath of life

Each painful step

And I rise up

As on eagles wings

To lofty mansions

Beyond the dream

To that city paved with gold

and quiet peace.

Great poem . The past can hurt so much , but we can rise up .., or hopefully can . I really like how you mentioned the eagles wings and the city paved with gold .
