Grateful Giving

Tune: Ravenshaw

('Lord, they word abideth')

Luke 21 v.1-4

***********

Jesus at treasury

In the Temple did see

Many rich giving money

Casting it in freely

And He did see also

A poor widow, {He} did know

That she cast in two mites

At treasury {she} alights

They did make a farthing

Though she did both them bring

Jesus said, Truly I say

She did give more this day

More than all the rich there

For they, abundant fare

Did give to offerings

The cos to them, small thing

But the poor widow, she

Gave all she had, so be

All she had utterly

Of her deep poverty

Help us, Lord, quality

In our giving there be

Not so much quantity

Yet give generously

If only all those with power and money would give to the poor the world would be a better place.

      Good poem, Orchi.
Poor man gives a biscuit, Baker gives a loaf. God savors the biscuit. The devil gets the loaf.
