Respite

Fay Slimm.

Respite.

Oh the gold of an autumn-sun stillness

lighting dusk-shadows in silver gilding

and etching field edges in misty ridges.

Time to catch fluttering leaves as they dance

with cool breezes

and to laugh as naked- stiff corn stalks wave

to new born sheaves.

Oh the quiet of needed respite times

before work-hours turn colder and

winter growls around countrysides.

As beautiful as an autumn day. My favorite time of the year. Yes winter is just around the corner, but the beauty of the fall is worth the wait for winter.
"Oh the gold of an autumn sun" I love it. And those "respite times" are much needed. Just a beauty, Fay. And a fave.

beautiful words Fay. Yes that respite is hear as the glory of autumn fills our hearts and minds.
