Tune: St George's, Windsor
('Come ye thankful people, come')
Psalm 8
********
O LORD our Lord, how great be
Your name in all the earth, see
How excellent, you have set
Your glory now, even yet
Above the heavens, and out
Of the mouths of babes no doubt
And infants, you have ordained
Praise, that victory be gained
For their praise it shall silence
Enemies, they quiet now hence
When I consider heavens
Work of your fingers I sense
Moon and stars which you have made
Sun and clouds to us displayed
What is man, that you do mind
Him, that he your grace may find?
You made him little lower
Than the angels, did endower
Him with glory, honour crowned
So his name shall be renowned
Made him to have dominion
O'er works of your hands, each one
Put all things under his feet
Gave him authority's seat
Creation under man's care
See, all sheep and oxen there
And too all beasts of the field
And whate'er the land shall yield
Birds of air, and fish of sea
All that in the oceans be
O LORD our lord how great be
You name in all the earth, see
