Fire and Wood

Lorna

The fire is lit

Flame kisses wood

And the two in their embrace

Send love into the room

Where warmth will soon

Undulate in shameless fashion

They travel timeless distances

From palaces of Caesar

And Nubian huts

From prairie homes

And sailors' berths at sea

Marc Antony and Cleopatra

Wooed their heat

In coolness of Alexandrian night

And watched the dancing flames and wood

By competitive moonlight

So well penned dear poet…the flames that drew moths around
    Like lovers in corner
The flame that hold story of many
The flames that carries the warmth
The love of the children around
Your flames bring a warmth inside
    When it’s cold outside
    Loved it dear poet
