Beautiful

Fay Slimm.

Beautiful.

Shadowy movements of ethereal
music play nebulous games
with light's lacy fingers, weaving
watery lines on sleepy lake.

Tonight diaphanous curl of filmy
grey smoke whispers its
          liquid journey along growing dim
with fervent limpidity.

Time holds breath as stars stack
glints of tiffany dew
on blackening trout's shiny back
in twilight's translucence.

Mist covers sky but above hangs
the gauzy sickle-shaped
glow of shade-blinkered lantern
trying to flicker again.

Clouds part and moon entrances
as the beautiful ghost
of a fading rainbow dances its last
and night closes the show.

who needs, an Astronaut's training or a plain ticket
    to experience: Flight
when we can just read your poetry and close our eyes, dear Fay...
a rainbow of gratitude, your way!

To see such beauty in the evening sky and to capture it so eloquently is truly a wonder. Have seen the "fading rainbow dances" several times, but the rest that you describe I thank you for letting me experience it through your poetry. - Phil A.
