Plucked Strings.

Goldfinch60

All the music was before me,

Getting it organised for the choir,

The Christmas music was needed.

I started to get it in order

But some was missing,

So I searched,

Searched throughout the music.

So much music for choirs,

For bands, for groups

That my loved one and I

Had spent so much time,

Playing and singing with.

Then I found it,

Found the folder,

It had the Christmas music,

All the Christmas music in it.

But it was so sad,

As the last person to have touched it,

Touched this music was my loved one,

She touched it over two years ago.

And now it was back,

Back with me.

That music and the tears,

The tears that flowed,

Flowed down my face,

As the memories,

The memories of the joy,

The joy of playing music,

Playing music together,

Plucked the strings of my heart.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I am the librarian for our Community Choir and we are doing a Christmas concert so we need the Christmas music. As I found Joyce's folder I realsied that the last time she had touched it was about a year before she passed into that choir in the Universe. The Community Choir sang "The Sound of Silence " at Joyce's funeral.

    A sensitive write Gold.
Meanwhile, in my mad adventures, someone prepared a version of 'The Sound of Silence' for me. There were no words in it for me to sing. Doh! They are working on a version of 'Silence is golden', for me next.

So sweet…the setting and the memories…wherever she resides, she is happy that you keep her cherished…may the music be alive…and those memories stay afresh…
