Enlightenment #2
He watched her washing bottles
in a tavern
by the roadside and later mending
burns and holes and tears
in other people’s dirty clothing
to make a living, or so it seemed
Then taking sips
of melted snow caught in a golden
sun bowl
She later dined on grapes picked
from a Grecian
hand thrown plate ..
It was in that very moment
when he realised
without any warning, whatsoever
that nothing
lasts forever and there is no taste
at all to those last
few crumbs we each leave behind ..

thank you dearly, my dear yellowrose .............................................................. Neville x
Forever? Even the tales of history's greats fades.... I know little of my father other than the front he presented to the world... i hope my son will know the real me... that may last a few years.
Forever is for the future to judge and we have no place in it.
I am sure he will my friend and of course, you are so write damnit ..................... N
Deep with sombre reflections your pen describes scenes with perfect slow tempo to show how quickly fly everyone's days....... food for more thought here my dear friend.
I must confess, I do seem to be in sombre reflectionist mode ........................................................... x
A fine write N.
If your sure .. then I thank you Mr. O .............................................................................. 🙂
My Dear Neville,
You’re spot on with your inked words…
……. ‘without any warning, whatsoever
that nothing
lasts forever and there is no taste
at all to those last
few crumbs we each leave behind ..’ …….
Lasting forever!? …
no such thing…
and those ‘few crumbs’ are best left behind…
at least in my opinion.

Although you hide behind those sunflowers, you have without doubt a beautiful mind and are one wise woman .. 🌻x

Nothing lasts forever
What a provoking thought
It maybe bad
But it maybe good
Nothing lasts forever
Not even our mistakes
Not even our falls
Today you might be trough
Tomorrow become a rise
Today you may be sad
But nothing lasts forever
Not even your grief
thanking you kindly spilleronsheet ........................ N
So many people do not realise the things people have to do just to stay alive. Good sad words Nevillle.
Andy
You are a credit to your insight Andy .. and ta for taking time to take a peek sir .. Neville 🙂
sadly, its only when we witness
the truly good, among us
leave - behind, as many regrets
as those of us, who watched-on
as mere spectators,
we get to realise
just how fleeting, our Now
truly is..
(reads like a poignant scene from a well written novel or play)
a delightful read
thanks for sharing, dear Poet
Thank you for visiting LB .. and as always, very much appreciated my friend .................. Neville
