Peace

Eugene

Go gently into that night

With inner strength

Across that divide

Into that peaceful sleep

Knowing this one thing,

It is well with my soul.

Why fight with rage

This journey's end

And struggle in the night

Shouting, screaming

Making waves.

Plead not for tears

But for mercy

Beg forgiveness

Surrender at that Cross

For there you may enter,

Gently, into that Light.

Nice thought, though these days it's, have you anything to declare before you come in.

well written and poignantly paced, thanks for sharing
(especially like your subtle nods to classic poems, helps add meaningful layers to your poetry)
