An angle on All Souls Day: Nov 2nd
*********
Oh woe! A 'cheery' pre-Christmas message I've read
The Vicar/Minister seems to get 'worse' at times!
It's a message about 'Another year is passing
It's another year closer to our death'
Argghh! Fancy that, for mainly elderly folk to hear
And at joyful Christmas season too
Yet it's a truth
Just don't remind us of it every five minutes or so
Yet you tell us of the resurrection hope too
But you do 'Bible-bash' us
You overdo the 'hell and damnation' side of it
Though people seem not to mind hearing it
Been at same church for donkey's years
Unless they nod off in sermons
Well, they are over 30 minutes long
'Oh yes, they must be long' it' said
Nothing to days of old
Reading an archive item of that church:
'The Vicar was getting tired
Having preached for 90 minutes' Doh!
But there's always:
'If you happen to find the perfect church
Don't join it - you'll spoil it!'
And that said by Charles Spurgeon
A famous preacher (1834 - 1892)
I'm a doom-and gloom merchant......
By the time you've read this
Your earthly life will be
About 1 minute 23 seconds shorter!
Whoops!
I know we just had 25 hour day (in UK)
But that made up for the 23 hour day we had in March!

Don't be down Orchi, life has so much to offer. it strikes me that your uk christian churches could do with a dose of the west indian type rejoicing as in their pentecostal church for example. They seem to have a spiritually uplifting atmosphere whereas uk style is rather down in the dumps.
Thanks dusk. This particular places overdoes the hell and damnation bit. That cheered ya up, reading this poem?! Doh!
I like it when you deviate .. but then you know that, dont'cha Mr. O ::)
Thanks N.
Well at least none can accuse you of product misrepresentation - the label describes accurately what's in the box.
However a word of caution, Orchi - at this rate you will have half the poets here reaching for the rope or the pills.....
Thanks DD.
Andy you believe that this is right, find your own god and all will be well.
Fun write Orchi.
Andy
Thanks Gold. It didn't come across as 'fun' in the article I read. The folk there get that almost every week. The same person preaches, oh, about 50 weeks of the year!
