Hope For All Souls

Tune: All Saints

('Who are these like stars appearing?')

John 20 v.11-18 parts

********

Hope of resurrection, Mary

The risen Christ see did see

Stood there by the tomb-stone weeping

Looked inside, and saw great thing

Two angels were sitting there

But tomb of Jesus was bare

They said to her, Woman, why yu

Weep? She said, i grieve anew

For they have taken away my

Lord, i know not by and by

Where they have Him laid, and when

She turned round, saw Jesus then

But she did not know it was He

That Jesus before here be

He said to her, Woman, why do

You weep, cry with tears like dew?

Who do you seek? She not know

That it was He who did show

She supposed He the gardener be

Said to Him, Sir, if you He

Have taken Him away, tell me

Where His resting-place so be

Then I shall take him away

Find place to lay Him this day

Jesus said unto her, Mary

She with eyes of faith did see

And said 'Rabboni', 'tis 'Master'

She did view Him there for sure

Went then and disciples told

Of Christians hope true and bold

  • dusk arising

Men have such need to cast a new spin on this old tale. So much so that the truth of the tale, if there be any, has been fogged by years of man's creative intervention leaving large holes to be picked in its truth.

There is the truth of it, I believe, though some places can seem 'foggy' or 'fogey' - as I first read the word! Sort of 'Anyone alive in 'ere?!' Doh!

      • dusk arising

If he was 'resurrected' then why does the trail of his life suddenly stop? Did they cut off his tongue, he was always a verbose personage up till his death..... but apparently silent afterwards.
