Tune: Mannheim
('Lead us, heavenly Father, lead us')
1 Peter 4 v.7-11
**********
The end of all things, it is near
Christ shall return, shall appear
Be you therefore sober, and be
In a state true prayerfully
And above all things have fervent
Love midst yourselves, heaven-sent
For love shall cover multitude
Of sins, grace to you endued
Be hospitable one unto
Another, no grudging, you
Not grumbling, and not complaining
Being thankful in each thing
As every one gifts have received
From the Lord, you have believed
So do share with one another
Each Christian sister, brother
As good stewards of the grace, see
Of God, manifold* it be (*many-sided)
If anyone speak, let them speak
As words of God, not to tweak
Them to human devisings for
They shall not be His words pure
And if any serve, let them do
It strengthened by God anew
Do all as of ability
Which God gives to each freely
That in He in all things, may He be
Glorified through His son, see
Jesus Christ, to whom praise, honour
And dominion be e'er sure
