so quickly

dusk arising

So quickly now
autumn days darken
into fade of evening.
as colder now
bedroom shivvers
succumb to
quilted warmth
whilst fireworks
crack and bang long
into November night
where sleep finds
pillow of dreams
swirling over atmospheric
quiet of radio comfort

Slowly then
mornings light
creeps to waken
the thief of dreams
reality's harbinger
radio news beckons
the day's treasure
of life to be loved

Outside
my beatiful tulip tree
almost bare of gold
stands proud
amid blanket
of cast-off
rusty golden
season treasures
bounty for
the earthworm

That's the leaves fell off (or falling off) the trees then. Won't see them again until about Spring time.
The leaves fall later than expected maybe - not usually early October, but later.
Waste of time sweeping them up until they have all fallen, unless they are wet and slippery.

        • dusk arising

Sweep 'em up? Are you kidding? They've fallen onto the unkempt part of my lawn which by popular demand I've allowed to become a wilderness.... good for the planet, our wildlife, and wild flora.

Unfolds petal by petal. A beautiful offering of nature. The beauty of well penned poetry, you know. 🙂

            • dusk arising

              You're very kind, thank you.

The world is going nuts, yet nature still continues doing what she does best. Hopefully aided by Cop26, but I won't hold my breath.

Mother nature is changing as Goldfinch pointed out with his flowers and shrubs blossoming again at this time of year. Where we end up we will just have to wait and see, though as an oldie it's changes now for my grandchildren gathers my support.

              • Lorna

This was just like my today morning! Loved it.

                • dusk arising

Thank you Lorna. Somehow I captured the poetry in the day to day occurrences in our changed lives of 2021. My life has certainly c.hanged i.e. slowed right down since forced to retire for health . Hope you are keeping well and safe.

Your range continues to surprise. This is what MPS is for!

                • Fay Slimm.

Your words move slowly to capture the experience of "reality's harbinger" and touch the heart of this reader with such courage as you face the lash of another days' coping with treatment - -- hats off and big hugs to you dear Dusk.

                • Jeremy Leach

Very nice indeed. Splashing words on the mental canvas that resonate and effortlessly paint imagery. Just my kind of poetry.
