Marriage Marvellous

Tune: Fulda

('We have a gospel to proclaim')

Revelation 19 v.6-9

**********

John heard as it were voice of great

Multitude in a splendid state

A voice of many waters, sound

As mighty thunderings redound

They said, Alleluia, the Lord

God omnipotent reigns, His word

Is ever sure, let us glad be

Rejoice, honour Him, He worthy

For marriage of the Lamb* is come (*Christ)

The time now to take His Bride** home (**the church)

His wife, she has made self ready

To share in marriage gloriously

And to her it was granted, see

Raiment arrayed, fine linen be

Clean, white, and bright, how is it made?

How so compiled, wondrous displayed?

'Tis made up of the righteous deeds

Of the saints, they did help meet needs

Of poor or hungry, ill or weak

Their hearts set, the Lord's will to seek

John was to write, Blessed are they

Called to marriage supper that day

Supper of the Lamb, God's own Son

These true, God's sayings, shall be done
