The Red Tree

Lorna

Luminous in the early sun

Your colors

Embodying the points of his soul

From notes of deep despair

Lighter shades of laughter

Sometimes deep red anger

Or shimmers of translucent tenderness

All of him

Hanging in your branches

Like ornaments

One by one falling away

These cold nights speeding their journey

Soon to be gone

As he had to be just two years ago

But it seems ever so long

This is so in the moment, tangible.
We can bring people back, in our minds, we just can't bring them back

The longings of the lost ones leaves a vaccum
    Can’t be filled
    Can’t let go
It’s a feeling that remains forever
    So well captured dear poet
    Thanks for sharing

Yes I remember it was right around the same time as my Jay died - both of Alzheimers...... followed up almost immediately by Covid restrictions ... we've had such a fun time no Andy? We can try to stay positive and I certainly know you do, but deep down it stinks.......... I'm having my ribeye today.

When a thing of beauty fills us up and brings out of us the most joyous enlivened thing we can be.... then where is forgetfulness... no-where.

Let the fire blaze in memory and rejoice that it was in YOUR life, you know you lived... and then some!

All found in your wonderful poetry today.

      • Lorna

That makes me smile - thank you Dusk.
