Musings

orchidee

...Or is it rantings?

What do you think?

A church is going ahead

To rebuild it's Church Centre

Not yet 70 years old!

I enjoyed it there for a time

I met someone later who used to go there too

He said 'I left because of their money matters'

It's not everyone - there's good folk there

But some others are mean and greedy, I think

They've stopped a Friendship Group now

Don't know why

An online clip was shown of folk enjoying it

They stopped a Christians Against Poverty course too

Well - they are hardly against poverty

With their requests for a million or more

Some have committed to giving for up to 11 years

The figures work out......

The congregation giving makes up about 8% of the total needed

Though that's over quarter of a million

They are going to borrow (again)

About 45% of the total

Not that we should suddenly think

As we many do in contrast

'But there's people starving in the world, etc, etc'

Whatever the 'etc's' may be

One main person is involved with Food Banks, etc

I don't see much other help there

Of course, the phrase is. 'The Lord will provide'

Yes, He will - from our pockets?!

It don't impress me

With a leader having strange hairstyle now

Trying to look like an Old Testament prophet?

He'll 'prophesy' of money matters - oh yes!

We should not say OMG

But it's enough to make us say it

If I hear that chorus again, I'll go mad

That's three weeks in a row they've had it!

And the Worship Group can be hit or miss

Depending on who turns up

Come and join that group.........

Got a lot of dosh?

You soon won't have

It'll cost ya

It'll be 10 quid to get into a service soon

I told ya - I can't support Branson now

I got none left over for him! Doh!

Rant over!

Such true words Orchi, the churches have a great deal of money. The roman catholic church is the richest organisation in the world but when Notre Dame was damaged they called for others to pay for it!!

Thanks Gold. This is not an RC Church in this case. Oohh, I'm in a mood! lol. The closing of that Friendship Group annoyed me.
I saw one genuflect (kneeling then getting up again; crossing oneself, etc) several times. Looked like a madman fidgeting about. I thought 'You will be worn out before the service starts!' Doh!

    • orchidee

And - it's not the first time they've asked for over a cool million!
Spit it out, Orchi, then the rant will be over, says Fido!

Sympathy (to a degree) with the local ministers/vicars for they do the duty of their regional bosses the bishops I guess. You know the ones who count the money pretending the established churches are poor...... you know my feelings only too well about the wealth of the churches (eye of a needle etc) and their plea of poverty.

      • orchidee

Thanks dusk. Yes, the ministers have to be paid. I don't know how it all works, but part is from the Collections. But these are not even full-time ministers. They may have a secular job too, plus their spouse may have a job too. That THREE incomes, and they ask for more than a million! Someone's having a laugh.

I like the piece, Orchi. It gets one thinking about the things we ordinarily see, and that have even become "norm".

        • orchidee

          Thanks Garth.

Walk away, mate - walk away. Start your own church. Probably a bit late, but imagine if you were young - do the strange hairstyle bit, demand complete adherence and obedience, and all their dosh.
Plus the bonus: dispense 'blessings' all the young female congregants that took your fancy. See - there is a heaven.....

          • orchidee

Thanks Dave. Oohh! This one won't get in me 'hymn-book' (E-book). I've censored it. Should I?!

            • Doggerel Dave

Yes I think you should censor it when it comes to world sales, orchi - don't want to give too many religious types ideas.....

In the meantime what is this e-book lark all about?

              • orchidee

Well, it's on this site somewhere. You can set up an e-book - from Dashboard somewhere, I think.

                • Doggerel Dave

Is it worth it - what do I do with it then? Have I access to world wide sales?

                • spilleronsheet

A harsh reality weaves in your poetry
                  It sounds satire
But irony lies to preach, money needs to be stashed
Since when faith required green papers ?

                  • orchidee

Thanks S. I was happy there for time, then money matters creeped in more and more.

                    • spilleronsheet

                      Then just exit orchi
God doesn’t reside only with rich
He resides within those who are kind
Humanity is never coloured by so called charity
