Be strong in the Lord, power of His might

Put on whole armour of God for the fight

That you may be able to stand against

Devil's schemes, battle in spiritual sense

 

For we fight not against humans, but we

Fight against dominions and rulers, see

Against powers of darkness in this age

Enemies of Christ through history's each page

 

So take whole armour of God, that you may

Be able to stand in thee evil day

Stand therefore, having truth to clothe your loins

Breastplate of righteousness, no wrong purloins* (*e.g. stealing)

 

And have feet shod with the gospel of peace

The everlasting word, which ne'er shall cease

And take the shield of faith, wherewith you may

Quench all fiery darts wicked throw your way

 

And take helmet of salvation, and sword

Of the Spirit, it truly be God's word

Pray always with all prayer, supplication

In the Spirit, for saints of each nation
