Those years

dusk arising

Those years,  what were they?
they came and went
and then came around again
like a dream of a joke
upon a haunted carosel
ever to be found again?

hazed now in minds eye yesterdays
courting colours of
a lovers endless game
where cast - I excelled
each leading role ha!
now to questionable acclaim

but who haunts these
tiring bones today
is it me?.. enacting sane?
peering out
through that glass lit darkly
upon love, as love remains

so bring me now my meadows
where gently i may dream
of summertimes
and butterflies
and familiars of my flame
where i ever shall remain

Poignant and oh so beautiful dear Dusk - your pen captures the vulnerable position of remembering when things felt good and life soared with potential -- this goes to my favourities.

    Life was beautiful back then
When their were opportunities and further more when I didn’t miss them
Life should be beautiful today as well but I feel I lack the curiosity to find lovely today
Those were the days which I wish could go back again
    Great one dear poet
You sent me on a journey of time travelling, making me nostalgic of the past

Oh, these years that past and those that will come. The good and bad, happiness and sadness, lost and gain, seems matters but not really. Love the last stanza. A wonderful read.

  • Paul Bell

Where did the years go, where did they go? It is great to go back, though sometimes the past really does become the present.

Superb words d a, may those meadows become a permanent part of your life.
