War - an epic poem
05/2021 -
Till to date, the most epic battle recited
If work of fiction, author to be knighted
If steeped in reality, left no room to doubt
History unheeded, suffer repeated fallout
Battle after battle, there was a shift
Praying to their gods, to gain an edge
Victor, momentarily, feeling invisible
In return promising anything, their pledge
Soldiers were after all just pawns
They had no option to choose
While they wielded the weapons
It was not their war to win or lose
Winner feeling confident, doubling down
The end, none worthy to adorn the crown
By the millions, in own blood drowned
Alas God, bereaved, of His creation, scorned
I gaze upon the crimson field of Armageddon,
fueled by false hope of victory, kept the battles raging
and now, strewn with corpses in all directions
I gather the souls, the source of those epic poems

May that Armageddon soon be a thing of the past and love surrounds those fields.
