Prosperous Providings

Tune: Offertorium

(When Jesus came to Jordan')

Psalm 147 v.7-13

*********

Sing to the LORD with thanks true

Make melodies anew

Sing praise upon the harp to

Our God, instruments too

Take up to give worship. praise

To Him of endless days

He covers heavens with clouds

Each they His glory shrouds

He makes rain to water land

It all made by His hand

And grass to grow on mountains

And forth break springs-fountains

He gives to creatures food sure

And feeds birds from His store

Delights not in strength of man

Nor match His power none can

The LORD takes pleasure in they

That fear Him in their day

In they that in His mercy

Do hope, they His grace see

Praise the LORD, O you people

He gives strength to you all

And guards His place of dwelling

All in it, and each thing

I liked it but don't understand how any spiritual figurehead could delight in any number of their subjects being in fear of them ...

    Pray enlighten me Mr. O ..... N

Thanks Neville. Here beginneth the - sermon?? (Oh no!). Pray be seated, and I shall begin....
'Fear' of God is more a reverence or awe of Him. Maybe it's an old-fashioned meaning of 'fear', but it does not mean terror, or afraid-type of fear.
Similarly with 'awful'. we may say 'God is awful', meaning 'awe-ful'. Or 'terrible', again meaning awe, respect, etc.
What's terrible in the traditional meaning is me singing! lol.

LOL @ fear of god. As taught to children by vicars, priests and so called devout christians. To scare children to obey and be 'good' christians like blind sheep..... they grow up into blind sheep like you orchidee.

Riddled with excuses, hypocracy and double meanings.

See reply I made to Neville.

That's just your personal interpretation. Children were taught to be afraid of god if they didnt worship him and his name.
