Will You

James Alexander

As dark shadows slink away

giving rise to a new day

will you be there as I awake

to relieve my lonely ache?

On snowy nights as we walk

sharing thoughts as we talk

will you be ever so kind

as to place your hand in mine?

On days when I am not there

will you think of me and care?

And when I return to your arms

will you grant me your loving charms?

Will you smile and let me see

a love reserved there just for me?

And if I feel not needed one day

will you hold me and ask me to stay?

And as crackling flames banish the cold

from waning years as we grow old

and my body becomes frail and ill

will you love and cherish me still?

With words like these that love will always be there.
