The Tree

James Alexander

Deep within the park

there is a single tree

that blossoms in the Spring

for my love and I to see.

And in the Summer's heat

provides us cooling shade

with bountiful green leaves

from the strong sun's rays.

And as Summer's heat is on the wane

and it's fruit is plump and sweet

it provides us with tasty flesh

to make kissing a sweeter treat.

Standing naked by Winter's breath

is a forlorn sight to see

but knowing Spring will soon arrive

comforts  my love and me.
