When we look at our lives
It is like looking at a piece of art,
The canvas shows so much.
It can show so many wonders
And so much sadness.
That picture we paint
Can be of many things,
The colours brought to the canvas
Show the brightness in many ways.
The greys show the dull days
That are often there,
But we need to keep our lives bright,
Bright and full of love.
So when you dip your brush in the future
Dip your brush in sunshine,
To paint that love into your life.

- Comment from author about the poem: At the Jazz Club this month we saw the group Hot Fingers and one of the songs they played was "Dip your brush into Sunshine" by Ted Lewis written in 1931, I had never heard it before but that title had to have some words written for it. The recording is by Hot Fingers, the group I saw, they were superb.

Dear Gold !!
Awesome lines !!
So when you dip your brush in the future
Dip your brush in sunshine,
To paint that love into your life.
Very creative and thoughtful !!
So kind Vamsi, thank you very much.
Andy
A fine bright write Gold.
I read a saying I had not heard before. Something like: 'It does not take all day to realise the sun is shining'. It was relating to using various technology, now that more is available in this day and age.
Just to 'see' the possibilities of it, if we are into I.T. as we see the sun, and it doesn't take us all day to notice it.
Something like that anyway!
Well, more I.T than in 1066 at least.
Some tecchies call non-tecchies 'dinosaurs'.
Thank you Orchi, the sun always shines on us Orchi, whether we can see it or not.
Andy
Thanks Gold. The quote is: 'It doesn't take a whole day to recognise sunshine' in a song by Foy Vance, entitled 'Doesn't take a whole day'.
I only came across this, as the author of a book was linking how the music industry makes use of I.T.
How was I.T. in 1066?!
How beautiful are the lines
And how intriguing they are
The life lessons learnt here
The canvas is yours
So are the paints
Choose the colour of sunshine to make it bright for the rest of the days
Thank you spilleronsheet, may the sun be on your canvas for ever.
Andy
Thank you so much Andy
Even if there maybe colour of Greys
May I have the courage to change them and colour with bright orange instead
I think, through pain, sunshine eventually comes back to us.
Positivity is the byword to happiness.
So true Paul, I am always a positive person.

I love love love Jazz Andy. To learn this beautiful hue was Jazz inspired gives it a unique radiance. I will be sure to check out this band. Lovely piece sir.
Thank you Garth.
The band were so very good, lots of humour and knowledge of jazz came to me from them and great music of the 20's and 30's.
