Tune: Winchester New
('O splendour of God's glory bright')
2 Timothy 4 v.6-8
********
Paul, at end of his earthly life
Through all he knew through calm or strife
Was ready for expected end
The gospel he did sure defend
Time of his departure, it be
At hand, he says, Timothy see
I have fought a good fight, and I
Have finished my course, end is nigh
I have kept the faith too, therefore
There is laid up for me in store
A crown of righteousness, the Lord
Shall give me it, true be His word
The Lord, the righteous judge, He shall
Give Paul a crown, he served Him well
And not to him only, but to
They who love His return to view

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.8.8.8. metre. One in a maybe occasional series that could be called: 'Hymns maybe less well-know, but which have well-known or fairly well-known tunes' . The tune to this one is the same as 'Ride on, ride on in majesty'. The hymn starts after a one minute short history of St Ambrose. Very old - 4th Century AD.

Thanks N. Dramatic title there? Sound like a film I'm making? I'm a drama queen - well, king! lol.
I'd watch it.
You can see the 1953 film 'From here to eternity'. Do I know it? Why, I'm in it! lol.
I've got a feeling you're in every movie xD
Were you in that film?
Oh absolutely. You could see me, (with a magnifying glass) marching down the field in the trailer.
Ahh! And another thing - dark humour - I tried suicide; but decided it was bad for me health!' lol.
Oh man, this must be fate cause I did the same thing. Damn we're clever.
Perfectly written!
Thanks Dove.
