The Rose

James Alexander

a tangerine rose in

a pristine vase

a distant memory

of time and place

a scented pleasure

of sight and scent

a lost reminder

of possibilities dreamt

Two stanza poems are the king. So nicely done, James.

Scent, the sense of smell can take us back to moments years ago with crystal clarity.

    A charming piece of reverie.

I especially love that it was a tangerine rose......

In my youth I grew a tangerine colored rose bush with the most vibrant color and fantastic scent. Whenever I am out I always stop and smell the roses. Life is too short to let beauty pass us by. Thanks for the comment.

Very true, I have a rose sitting in a vase for my lost lover.
