still warm sands

dusk arising

I sat on our beach again tonight.
Crashing waves seduce my thoughts.
A couple walk their dog
playing driftwood games,
ever willing

Moonlight casts a sheen
over the slickened wet sand
and i catch the memory
of your laughter
upon the wind.

Flakes of rust have worked their years
into the wrecked old steamers ribs,
abandoned and broken
in the rockpools jaws
of decay.

The clear cool castle stream
still polishes stones
where our feet once paddled.
Rippling waters return my memory
to your smiling face.

               Here our sun shone.
               As young love ran wild.
               Playing, ..chasing games of living.
Then.. bathed in the twilight tide
               of tonite anticipation.
               Loves precious words
               were softly spoken.
Still warm, the sand of time
                       spills through my fingers.

And in the ruin of towers above
where chanced love rejoiced in the rain.
To this day there remains
on the western wall,
a heart, ..around our names.

      Some memories lie deep seated
      So well spoke dear poet
The lines mesmerised about those sceneries of togetherness
The person may or may not be today with us but those memories are cherished as they are gilded inside us
      It’s a lovely poetry

There's a lot to say about life when it's lived on the edge of the world. It really comes through in this poem. Can totally relate. πŸ‘

            • dusk arising

The times related were certainly at the zesty front end of life when love of life and being in love were the energy and reason for everything.

I'm so pleased this piece did something rewarding to you LBM. If only I could do such more often, though I try to 'touch' something in the reader with most stuff i post. Thank you for sharing your personal memory with me here.
