Shall I put the Xmas tree up?
Think I’ll wait another week
Looking at it for a month
Might make my Xmas spirit sink
All those golden balls and tinsel
Will soon lackluster become
Ho ho hoing way too early
Makes me weary and then some
Xmas songs I’ll want to hear them
On the eve of Xmas day
Lest the notes get very dreary
And so merrily I’ll wish them
Get ye hence and get ye gone

Refreshing to read. Today's apparent urgent need to be in christmas spirit is an urgency i don't share. Christmas does have a special atmosphere but to lengthen the period removes it's novelty making it more an everyday thing.
Well expressed angst.
Lol - it started just after Halloween here Dusk..... truly waters down the magic if you let it! Thanks for reading and I hope smiling......
lol,
'maybe a tad early
but our Tree is up and glimmering
so why not, indulge
in a little: festive Harmony'
(thanks for sharing
the much needed positivity,
a funtastic shorty)
A very good read…really marking the arrival of festive season…
Now, people who put their tree up in October. Should we impose hefty fines, tickle them to death. Mind you, Easter's just around the corner.
Good write Lorna.
It's some of the Christmas adverts I can't stand. Too naff! lol.
I'm very much a last minute kinda guy .. I know bah humbug n all that .. but some of us have still got to earn a crust .............. good un Lorna with a refreshingly new twist ...
Xmas ambivalence poeticised.
Extreme thanks, Lorna
I totally agree with you, Christmas is special but it is only one day, it does not start as soon as Easter is over!
Very good words Lorna.
Andy
I don’t understand Christmas , but that’s just me . People can give presents any time of the year , if they wish to . I’ve never liked Christmas that much , I kind of just get sad at the end of a year .
Nice writing , Lorna .
