Faking

Fay Slimm.

Faking.

Festooned round
        skillfully sentenced evasion
never deeper
than experienced phrasing
sits counterfeit
methods cunningly known
as unmeant affection.

Playing at love is a two-faced
divisive game
based on arrant deception
of faked vows that
never stand time's intense
scrutiny for real
care knows trust breaks
when being misled.

Better to give thought first
before starts
love-commitment by word.

I was never attractive enough to attract overt declarations of love. LOL Nor was I one to bandy the word or phrase. Only ever leaving my lips when truly felt.
Though I can see that such falseness may have been a ploy to secure an entrance into a ladies boudoir in past times, I can't see that declarations of love are a necessity in 2021 to gain such access any more.
How times changed in the lifetime of us baby boomers.

    • Fay Slimm.

I know just what you mean by the availability of boudoirs today Dusk - - sighing we have to admit that romance has flow out the window along with the word Love.......... thanks for your thoughts on the subject my friend.

deceit aint a four letter word, it is something worse than all of em put together ............ Some things go without saying ... ink well n truly spent Fay ................. x

      • Fay Slimm.

Yes Nev. - a real ugly word is Deceit and can break trust in a moment - - - -- - - "faking it" seems to be accepted today as a substitute for truth in matters involving the heart - -- thanks a bunch for the comment and glad you felt the verse timely as "ink well spent" ..................x

What a message and one hardly ever mentioned - to do that intentionally! Like chalking bomber strikes on the side of a plane .... trophies....

        • Fay Slimm.

Yes I felt it needed a mention and you hit the nail on the head with this comment dear Lorna. Masses of thanks coming your way.

Loneliness makes us a target of deceit, and it’s even more painful when wrapped in the cushion of love, as your words have so exposed

          • Fay Slimm.

Good points made and thank you Suresh - How true that loneliness can open us to believing what comes from lying lips - - words that once spoken are seen with eyes of trust to those who are vulnerabl.

That deceit is appalling, love is such a special thing and must always be real.

I knew you would see it that way Andy - -- love is indeed so special and must always be real.

Some people simply like to lie and are not to be trusted . It’s difficult sometimes , because we want to feel we can trust someone .. I guess we have to try to trust ourselves and what feels right or wrong . But sometimes we just can’t tell ,

              A good writing , Fay 🙂

              • Fay Slimm.

Thank you Rose - and yes I agree that there are some who like to lie but we can try to let our feelings tell us who we can trust - good point my friend.

                • Caring dove

If only we trusted ourselves more of the time , .. sometimes we can doubt someone but still talk to them anyway . As if were unsure of what we’re feeling , or we doubt our own feelings .

All is fair in love and war they say. This piece points out just how unfair and hurtful things in love can be. Well written, dear Fay.
