Ranting?

orchidee

You'll see different angles to this maybe

Depending on your point of view

And your thoughts on 'religion'

In the Old Testament King David

Was instructed to build God's Temple

He said it must be 'exceeding magnificent'

It cost money - and gold!!

A Temple built, starting from scratch

But what about re-building

A Temple - or in this case, Church Centre

Not yet 65 years old

It ain't got no steeple even!

Not that churches have to have spires

We may suddenly thing things like

'But there's people starving in the world', etc

We may not have considered the starving, etc so much

If we had nothing to contrast them with

But it makes me sick....

Though I seem to be blowing hot and cold

With me hymn-poems

Then ranting on about a church

I suppose the hymns don't make a church 'a church' though

It's to get more people inside their doors, they say

Pew- fillers? If they had pews, that is!

'They' - some main ones

Keep swanning off to Conferences

They deserting the flock?

The flock seem to amble on

Same Choruses up to three weeks in a row

People turning a bit strange

On return from some Conferences

Music Group a bit ropey

Depending if one or six people turn up. Doh!

Some growing funny hair-styles

To look like old Testament prophets?

It's gone downhill ,I think...

Some left because of 'money matters'

People are giving thousands of pounds in total

But it's a pathetic 8% of the total needed

Ohh, we'll borrow again

45% this time

Give us your dough, so we can repay loans!

Fido says I can't support that AND Branson now

He is annoyed

He will bite the 'they' people!

Who say building should go ahead!

C'mon now, pass your money and gold to me

And I will give it to them

I know ya got stashes of gold there!

Don't know what to say, orchi. You do seem just a trifle conflicted....

    • orchidee

It's not ALL churches - just a few, hopefully.

      • Doggerel Dave

You have solved it - hope, that's what drives it all - hope.

      • Lorna

Not EXACTLY sure what is wrong but I feel for you and thank you for the dog laughs....It ain't got no steeple even! - cracked me up.....

        • orchidee

          Thanks Lorna.
Well - 1. I've not got part of a million pounds or more, that they need.
          2. I was traditional. I thought for a time they were not 'proper' churches' if they did not have a steeple!

          Good rant, Orchi.
A lot of raw material in a good rant.

          • orchidee

            Thanks Jerry.

          • orchidee

Oh, and another thing.. what can I do, to support this AND Branson? lol

          • dusk arising

Looks like you are stuck in the rut of a habit and can't face up to the contradictions.

            • orchidee

As I say, it's not ALL churches. Just a minority get greedy, I think. Apart from the R.C. controversy.

            • Goldfinch60

So many organised religions are only on the look out for more money and when they get it do not spend it on the many deserving people in our world, their world, who are in dire straits.
              Good rant Orchi.

Thanks Gold. What makes me rant is that they've asked for over a million quid AGAIN. Will they ever stop?! The things here are true - the facts and figures for this group. Poor old Branson not heard from me with donations!

              • Draven

Haha, a good rant and a good read.

                • orchidee

                  Thanks D. Unfortunately it's true.
