Need

James Alexander

Long have I lost the need to question why

and remain content that my love for you

endures as does the moon in the sky;

as does the pain I feel in my heart

when I the see sadness there in your eyes.

We knew of happiness in the Spring,

felt passionate love in our hearts

through Summer, Fall and Winter's sting.

And now that our time is coming to an end

we wonder what tomorrow might bring.

But if only you stay everything will be fine,

because of you I am happily to be alive,

carrying a love lasting to the end of time

and I will show you every affection I can

to make up for the times I have been so blind.
