I smile
Oh yeah do all the right things
To keep darkness under wraps
While hours of the day tick by
So as not to off put
Don’t ask to know me too well
It will disappoint
Laugh and they’ll laugh with you don’t you know
Etcetera ad nauseam
Ah well I ask
What’s the harm in that

Good write Lorna.
Thanks Orchi.... kind of depressing... sorry.
I know well that feeling of living behind a protective mask where intrusion is not wanted nor entertained..... my poetry is me unmasked.
It's a day to day thing..... great that the poetry helps.....
My Dear Lorna,
As I read your poem, it reminded me of the times I would hear my great grandmother say,
‘…rido per non piangere…’
(I laugh to keep from crying).
As a youngster, I never understood what she meant. Well I certainly do now. Your pic is a perfect ‘show and tell’ of a ‘heavy heart’.
Thank you for sharing.
Laura🌻
That generation sure had some helpful advice even if it was sometimes a little tough. For instance I remember being all worried (when very young) about what people thought of me and my mother's answer was "you have to remember that theye are really not thinking about you at all"..... floored me at first and then "what a relief!" - ha ha...... Thanks Laura - be well.....
Great picture of the way I get around for most of the time...
But come on now Lorna - you just wouldn't survive if open and vulnerable in your interactions with all and sundry. Fold the cloak up and put it away only when it is safe to do so.
Thanks Doggie Dave .... you too! Well no I wouldn't, no i didn't and yes I will..... maybe it doesn't work for some, but it seems best alternative for me...... and lots of others I guess!
This is what happens. This is real. Thank you.
Hopefully not all the time for you...... thanks for reading! Rozina.....
So true Lorna, we all live behind different masks in different situations,
Andy
It sure sneaks up on a person but I guess it's a survival thing.......
Nicely penned ❣
And I liked the picture most.
Thanks for that HH!
You are welcome 😊 ☺
