Smothered

Lorna

And that is one reason why

People have to leave

Gaia is heaving

Trying to breath away

The weight of us

Buried in the rubble

We are not vegetable

Or mineral

Just a sci fi phenomenon

Warned about

On old TV

Just rubbish really

Love the irony, Lorna. So much said in so few lines....I feel that there might just be something in the Gaia H. The values embodied in humanity - thoughts, ideas, the arts, sciences and nature - yet the agony is that war and greed just don't disappear...
(Sorry - that is far to incoherent and scrambled; your poem does it better.)

    • Lorna

The values embodied in humanity - thoughts, ideas, the arts, sciences - I guess those are our virtues..... especially the arts, just creating beauty! Not incoherent at all - thanks Dave! Good we can write our thoughts.... speaking them comes out all wrong for me.....

      • Doggerel Dave

Bugger - should read 'far too incoherent' ..... I hate that.

When you see the amount of nuclear weapons around the world, you know it's just a matter of time.

        • Lorna

Exactly... if we don't choke to death first. Saw a picture of I think it was Calcutta the other day - they closed offices and schools because the air wasn't fit to breath..... really..... it's so discouraging.

Lorna you nailed it - - a wonderful exposé of all things anti-earth I second each line and hope Mother does not get too angry for words and explode us with her fury before we learn.

          • Lorna

Oh Fay it might be so much better for her if she does! We're just a blip on the radar.

When will human greed end, when only we are left, and then what???????
            Your words bring this home

            • Lorna

It won\'t end Suresh..... nothing in history points to that..... here I go again being gloomy gus..... but in the meantime we can enjoy nature while it is still here. Also after Chernobyl - no people but the animals are thriving so that's the answer.

I am wanting old TV! I last saw proper comedy shows, oh, about 1975 I think.
When it says 'new comedy' on TV now, I yell at them: 'Where?!' lol.

              • Lorna

Have you tried YouTube Orchi? Just about anything and everything is there. I've found amazing old British comedies there..... Kitty comes to mind with Patricia Routledge but there are so many others.

We preach planet saving oratory to little point. The planet will endure without the scurge of humanity.

Strange phenomenon isn't it.... good people with a hatred of their kind.

                • Lorna

Yes Dusk ... put that way it sounds really terrible..... it isn't hatred really, just venting confusion and disbelief about why they are the way they are.

... they say many a true word written in jest ... but you aint jesting tho are ya ... they also say the truth will out ...

We are definitely hazardous to our planet and all the species therein. A 'sci fi phenomenon' indeed. Excellent write.🙂

hehe, so clever. Really love this.

Powerful words Lorna, humanity has a great deal for which to answer for to the world we are destroying.
