Sunrise

James Alexander

The morning awakes and gently paints

on a canvas of Robin's egg blue.

Her brush extends broad thick strokes

and rays thin as a feather's edge too.

Fiery yellows, oranges and reds

across the broad expanse of sky,

mixed and melded by Natures hand

a masterpiece to cheer lonely eyes.

And as I travel merrily along

Nature fills my heart with singing

for it is a tonic for the mind and soul

bringing each day a new beginning.
