the only love she held on to

dusk arising

July....
some things
you cant change
July meant late
but she was ready
the afternoon's rain
left a damp breeze
which shuddered
across her bones
late was best
february was early
and wrap up warm
february skies were
early velvet teatimes

but no
July had everything
and sinking now
into her chair
there it was
before her
the only love
she held onto.....
.....the sunset

I think I really like her and her perspective! Although the velvet teatimes get me too.

Sunsets, though varied, can be relied upon and can bring great pleasure. Other things can disappoint us in many ways.

Yes - with Nature.... even here storms..... we know what we're getting!

The power of intrigue in these lines is astoundingly strong dear Dusk - I must put this one away to read again - - and again - first class writing my friend.

A creative, poetic mind as yours surely is, would find much to romance with these words. I'm pleased you enjoyed and honoured to be among your favourites.

How perfectly poetically ponderous sir ... I shall no doubt be back once pondered have I ...................... N

I imagine you have super sunsets at home or close by. I hope they never disappoint you.

Enjoyed the memories that evoked of some fine sunsets and the circumstances surrounding at the time.

'the only love she held onto' ? Sad and troubling, dusk.

              • dusk arising

Life surely can be sad and troubling, in contrast to a sunset laying a day to rest.

This is lovely. Thank you for sharing.

That sunset in our lives is always a moment of wonder and glory and always will be.

Nothing quite as peace evoking as a clear sunset. One can appreciate why the ancients applied then to Goddesses like the Phoenician Tanit
