A Lady in a Room Full of Men

M.E.M.

To be a lady means to always do one’s best.

To be a lady means to act with grace and dignity.

If you don’t then you are the outsider.

Present oneself to employers and colleges alike

with an air of knowledge, they have never seen before.

If you don’t then they will never see your potential.

Modern ladies dress to impress, never to show off

And they show no fear in the face of doubters.

If you do then others will exploit you for your niceties.

Use every route available before going to your superior.

Work it out yourself, don’t let other’s look at you with pity.

If you don’t then they will see you are unfit for your position.

Work to be the best and then go further.

Don’t let their judgment sway you.

If you do then you will never rise in the ranks.

Never do the bare minimum.

Do not give authority a reason to question you.

If you do then they will see you as dead weight.

Walk into the building exuding confidence.

Go to the empty bathroom to cry and scold yourself.

After having touched up your makeup,

walk out with poise, and get back to work.
