Red Suit

AuburnScribbler

The boy, who plays the man,

swells with joy, with festive plan,

in mind, he puts on a red suit,

to find those gifts, those friend salutes,

wrapping goes well, but the cello-tape,

re-tells that lasting “where’s my end?” jape,

but after a few drams, all is complete,

apart from a smile, from a happy street!

  • Comment from author about the poem: This short poem is about the "Santa Claus" in me, that comes alive around this time of year. Even if it's a chat/pint for a friend who needs company, or an engraved piece of art for a loved one, a thoughtful gift, can give a small amount of cheer, that can be the fuel for them to look forward to things to come. Accompanying the poem is a clipart picture of a cheery Santa with his sack of gifts, which I thought adorns the poem very nicely. I hope that the exchanging of gifts wherever you are; goes well, and that you have a Happy Christmas. I hope that you enjoy the poem, and as always stay safe everyone.

    Christmas feel
    With Santa inside
    Even if it’s fantasy
    It brings the child outside
    Christmas around the corner
Hopes pile and eagerness for santa to arrive
    Very poetic dear poet

Merry Christmas to you too my dear friend

so rare, to find festive cheer
              that's not feigned or tainted
              my darting eyes of despair..
              thank you!
              for reminding me
              why the child, within me
              once enjoyed this festive season,
what a gift you inked, dear poet
              hope you have
              a fantastic Christmas
              and a happy new year,
              stay safe, but remember
              to enjoy yourself
              have that extra slice
and a few more sips, than you should
              rejoice, in simply
              being alive and free 🍻

Thanks for the read L. B. Mek...

                In these times so troubling,
                Our worries be doubling,
                But with natural humility,
                We continue with activity,
                With our strong intentions,
                Void of sad interventions,
So, grab a glass and fill it,
For "God's" sake don't spill it,
Drink to you, drink to me,
                Just delve into festive revelry!
